Cambodia Support Project (2018 ~ present)

Between 1969 and 1979, the civil war led by the radical communist Khmer Rouge and the Killing Field massacre killed more than 1.7 million people, a quarter of the population. They included many intellectuals. This is why the illiteracy rate is high among young people today and the passion for education is so hard to find. What is urgently needed in Cambodia is comfort, reconciliation, and educational activities beyond religion.

Support for Posat Our Lady of Mercy Kindergarten (2019-present)

It is a kindergarten run by the Our Lady of Mercy Christian Education Sisters. The nuns operate Our Lady of Mercy Kindergarten for pre-school children in the Posat Cathedral, and after-school study rooms for elementary, middle and high school students in seven villages. Each week, 800 children benefit here, and the corporation has provided about $15,000 (about 20 million won) annually since 2019. Until the convent was active, the education of local children was not properly conducted, and many parents are illiterate and tied to business and work to escape poverty, so they cannot pay attention to their children's education properly. Helping children with housework is becoming a priority over education, and the middle school entrance rate is only 20%. Teenagers work at gas stations or construction sites, dig up vegetables around them, and sell them to the market. Children who should dream of the future through education naturally give up their dreams because of poverty. The building used as a kindergarten was torn down by the damage of insects and moisture, so it has been taught on a small scale in temporary buildings, and will fill more children and teachers in the new kindergarten in January 2023 to support children to design their future without losing their dreams.
