Chairman's greeting
I'm Jeong Soon-im, Chairman of the Board of
Marianne and Margaret Association.
People remember a lot of the changes that Marianne and Margaret made on Sorok Island, which was called the divine punishment land.
With the help they received by appealing to the Austrian Catholic Women's Association about Sorokdo's situation, they established various medical facilities on Sorokdo Island and contributed greatly to the disappearance of social prejudice against Hansen's disease patients within Sorokdo Island.
They came to a faraway country at a young age, took care of Hansen's patients who were isolated from society like mothers, and showed them that their lives were truly a personificated love, while practicing unconditional love. Marianne and Margaret Association is the carrier of that love, acting as Marianne and Margaret and the Catholic Austrian Women's Association to the poor and the underprivileged.
There have been numerous occasions when we support volunteer projects and build dormitories in difficult places,
but our Cambodian scholarship student Leang Liheang's acquisition of national nurse qualification was joy beyond words. Liheang's parents visited the school for her to drop out for working for the casino because of money. Then, the scholarship fund was started by a teacher who felt sorry for Li, who had an extraordinary passion for her studies. My heart goes out to "Liheang," who worked hard and rewarded me with good results even though her studies must have been very difficult. These would not have been possible without the absolute support of the members. I also sincerely thank the members of the support group.
Our association's business consists of five major categories.
-
First,
paying a lifetime pension to Marianne and Margaret, who left empty-handed, along with Goheung-gun.
-
Second,
awakening the good influence that everyone has by informing the world of their lives.
-
Third,
supporting those living the lives of the second Marianne and Margaret in poor global places and children in need.
-
Fourth,
using the Austrian Catholic Women's Association as a motif, we help many people to stand on their own feet.
-
Fifth,
'Marianne and Margaret Service Awards' are held every year to inherit the noble spirit of the two, dedicate themselves to the country or the community, and to find and encourage those who have served.
As Goheung-gun, the Korea Nursing Association, and our association signed a business agreement to select the nursing sector for Marianne and Margaret's service, the two are expanding their enhancement projects one step further. Marianne and Margaret Association will help so that the good influence that lies in many people's minds can be exercised more valuable.

Marianne and Margaret Association
