Marianne & Margaret

On February 6, 2025, the 49th graduation ceremony for the 2024 academic year was held at the Ssangchung Gymnasium of Nokdong High School.

Nokdong High School, located within the district, has been operating a school democratic citizenship program based on the spirit of sharing and sacrifice of the two nurses, Marianne and Margaret, as part of the school autonomy project selection system supported by the Jeollanam-do Office of Education since 2019.

The program has played a significant role in continuing the noble spirit of the two by conducting activities such as writing letters hoping for a Nobel Peace Prize and creating Marianne and Margaret design badges. To pass on this spirit to the students in the local community, a new agreement was made with Principal Lee So-young, who was newly appointed to Nokdong High School in 2024, to hold an annual Marianne and Margaret design contest, selecting two winners to award each with a prize of 500,000 won. This year marks the second time this has been held.

The winners of the 2025 second contest were first-year student Park Seul-ji with [Miracle of the Blue Night] in first place, and second-year student Kim So-hee with [The Sister and the Deer] in second place. Nokdong High School produced pens with the design selected as first place and delivered them to the foundation.
