From February 4th (Wednesday) to 5th (Thursday), we conducted a traditional Korean medicine volunteer service for local residents in collaboration with the College of Oriental Medicine at Dongshin University. A total of 26 people participated in this volunteer activity, including 19 students and 7 individuals comprising professors and oriental medicine doctors.
Thanks to the Nokdong Agricultural Cooperative for providing the venue, we were able to offer medical consultations to local residents in a more stable environment. With warm hands, each person's story was heard, and their physical discomforts were carefully examined, providing great comfort and assistance to the local residents. In the evening, we had a time to reflect on the meaning of service through a lecture by Father Kim Yeon-jun, strengthening our resolve. The following day, we continued providing medical support to the residents of Doyang-eup and later visited Sorokdo to further extend the spirit of service. Additionally, through this activity, we delivered 250 sets of traditional medicine support items, including cold medicine, digestive medicine, and patches, to the Sorokdo Residents' Association. In the remaining time, we took a walk around Sorokdo Central Park, guided by Executive Director Kang In-hye, allowing students and professors to gain a deeper understanding of the history and significance of Sorokdo. We also visited the Sorokdo Museum to review records and materials on site, thus concluding the 1-night, 2-day schedule.
We sincerely thank the volunteer team from the College of Oriental Medicine at Dongshin University for their participation. We also express our heartfelt gratitude to Chairman Park Ki-tak of the Nokdong Agricultural Cooperative for providing the medical consultation space and cooperating in various ways to ensure the smooth progress of this medical volunteer service. The Sharing Training Center will continue to extend warm sharing for the healthy lives of the community and neighbors.
