<August 12, 2016 Marianne and Margaret Receive the Manhae Prize>
Marianne Stoeger and Margreth Pissarek were awarded the 20th Manhae Prize on August 12, 2016. The Manhae Prize, established to honor the spirit of Manhae Han Yong-un (1879-1944), is awarded in the categories of Peace, Practice, and Literature, and Sisters Marianne and Margaret received the award in the Practice category.
Sisters Marianne and Margaret were unable to attend the ceremony, so the Austrian Catholic Women's Association, which supported the Hansen's disease patients in Sorokdo, and Father Kim Yeon-jun, the parish priest of Sorokdo Church, accepted the award on their behalf. The lifelong sacrifice and service of these two women transcend time and religion, offering great inspiration to people.
