Press Conference of the Marianne and Margaret Nobel Peace Prize Nomination Committee on October 31, 2019 2019-11-04
On October 31, 2019, at 10:30 AM, a press conference was held at the Press Center in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, organized by the Korean Nurses Association Steering Committee and the Marianne & Margaret Foundation, to announce the achievement of the Million Signature Campaign for the Nobel Peace Prize for Marianne and Margaret. Distinguished guests included Kim Hwang-sik, Chairman of the National Committee for the Recommendation of the Nobel Peace Prize and former Prime Minister, Shin Kyung-rim, Chairman of the Korean Nurses Association, the Director of the Jeollanam-do International Cooperation Office, and Song Gwi-geun from Goheung County. International guests included Mary Jane Watkins, Baroness of Tavistock and Acting Chair of Nursing Now, H.E. Dr. Michael Schwarzinger, the Austrian Ambassador to Korea, and the British Ambassador to Korea. Approximately 45 people attended, including members of the domestic and international press associations and related personnel. The event featured welcome speeches, encouragement speeches, project introductions, and a Q&A session, led by Mary Jane Watkins, Chairman Kim Hwang-sik, and Shin Kyung-rim, Chairman of the Korean Nurses Association, lasting about an hour and a half.
